FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR THE STUDIO R&D PROGRAM

For one night only, acclaimed playwright Joshua Harmon will present the first reading of his brand-new play, We Had a World to a small, exclusive Studio audience.

Studio audiences will know Harmon for blockbuster plays like Admissions and Bad Jews (whose 2014-2015 run at Studio remains the record-holder for most tickets sold in the theatre's history). Harmon also wrote the Tony-nominated Prayer for the French Republic

In addition to the reading, Joshua will also join our Artistic Director, David Muse, for a discussion of this intensely personal play. After the reading, we invite you to join us for a dessert reception, where you can mingle with Joshua, David, and fellow theatre-lovers.

Proceeds for this event support Studio R&D, our incubator for new plays encompassing the full range of Studio’s commissioning and new work development activities.

We Had a World

A dying woman calls her grandson and asks him to write a play about their family. “But I want you to promise me something,” she says. “Make it as bitter and vitriolic as possible."
