She entertains-even flirts with-a handful of visitors and revels in the memories of her singing. At the same time her utter lack of pretension is endearing. She kept hold of the purse strings until her death. |

Harmond- (30’s-40’s) Charismatic and eloquent Real-estate developer running for the Mayor of Pittsburgh. Idealistic.
Mame- (30’s-40’s) Harmond’s wife and Campaign manager. Has a career of her own as a PR representative, which she has put on hold to work for her husband. Cultured and articulate- the perfect modern political wife.
Roosevelt- (30’s-40’s) Harmond’s friend from college and current business partner. Ambitious and very proud of his success. Willing to move into ethically grey areas to continue to move up the ladder.
Sterling- (50’s-60’s) Neighborhood handy man. More intelligent than people give him credit for. Strong sense of right and wrong.
Old Joe- (70’s-80’s) Proud family man with a rich cultural and spiritual heritage and an important secret. Recently returned to Pittsburgh and his old house only to find it about to be demolished in Harmond’s urban renewal project. Determined to keep his house. |

Things to know. . .
- The Studio Theatre operates under an Actors Equity Small Professional Theatre Contract and has an Equity Membership Candidate Program.
- Equity Principal Auditions for each main stage production begin approximately two weeks after the season is announced. Please check back on this website, on the “Casting Call” section of Equity’s website, or the local Equity Audition Hotline, for more details.
- The Studio Theatre's casting representative attends The League of Washington Theatre's Open Auditions every summer (Contact the League for information, 202-638-4270) and the DC/Baltimore/Northern Virginia Equity Liaison Committee Auditions every winter (Contact the Liaison Committee for information).
- Non-Equity open calls are held for each Secondstage production, approximately four times a year. Watch the Guide to the Lively Arts in The Washington Post for dates and times.
- Production auditions are held throughout the season by invitation.
- Auditioning Classes are held every semester in The Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory.
